About the Author
Jack Peredur came to writing through a life shaped by science, craft, and long reflection.
Raised in New Jersey and trained originally as a chemist, Jack began his adult life grounded in analytical thinking and practical work. When circumstance and opportunity carried him south to South Carolina, that move marked the first of several quiet thresholds – moments where a planned path gave way to something less predictable, but more enduring.
Over the years, his work has ranged from hands-on building and restoration to long-form journaling and philosophical inquiry. Together with his wife Suzanne, he built a life rooted in making, repairing, and paying close attention to the hidden structures beneath everyday experience.
It was during these years that Jack began recording experiences that resisted easy explanation – encounters with symbolism, memory, and patterns that suggested realities layered just beneath the familiar world. Those notes, diaries, and reflections eventually became the foundation for Ravenwood: A Seeker’s Memoir and the wider Ravenwood series.
Today, Jack writes from the Ravenstead, a restored farm in South Carolina dedicated to memory, continuity, and creative work. From there, he continues shaping the Ravenwood books – not as instruction or belief, but as companionship for readers navigating their own questions, crossings, and moments of becoming.
Jack and Sue can often be found at regional speculative-fiction conventions throughout the year. If you happen to meet them in person, you already know the question to ask.
